  • Orkut App Issues Being Addressed

    The Orkut engineering team has been hard at work addressing some recent issues and we would like to provide a status update and apologize for the inconvenience our spotty service may have caused you. We’re not done yet, but we wanted to explain to you what happened and what corrective measures we’re taking to ensure it doesn’t happen again:

  • Gmail Now Officially Supports Rich Text Signatures

    Gmail has previously limited user signatures to simple text only. Therefore, we had written tricks to make stylish HTML signature using addons or other methods. Now, acting on widely requested feature from users, Gmail blog has announced the support of rich text signs.

    Now you can spice up your assents with fonts, colors, links and images. For this, you will have to go to Gmail Settings > General > Signature.

    Thankfully, Gmail also supports distinct signatures when you are sending mails with other email address within same account i.e. custom “From:” address. What is better than having separate signatures for different accounts? Probably different signatures for same account. Just like outlook – different signatures for replying, forwarding or composing a new mail.

    The only limitation for images is that it already has to be somewhere on the internet. You can upload images from your computer in your signature. Fortunately, you can use free image hosting services like imgur or images hack us for this purpose.

  • What's bigger than 1080p? 4K video comes to YouTube

    Today at the VidCon 2010 conference, we announced support for videos shot in 4K, meaning that now we support original video resolution from 360p all the way up to 4K. To give some perspective on the size of 4K, the ideal screen size for a 4K video is 25 feet; IMAX movies are projected through two 2k resolution projectors.

  • WebFont Loader updated with Ascender Module

    Two months ago we announced the WebFont Loader, a JavaScript library for improving the web font experience. Today we are pleased to announce the availability of the Ascender Module, so now you can use the WebFont Loader with Ascender’s FontsLive web font service.

    The WebFont Loader was designed to make it easy to switch between different providers of web fonts, including Google, Typekit, and others. The Ascender module provides users of the FontsLive service with enhanced controls over how web fonts are handled by various browsers.
